Launched in 2020 by Tees Business, the awards celebrate the very best in the region’s thriving tech and digital sector. And our nomination in the Innovation category is a testament to our team’s research, dedication and commitment to powering progress.

The recognition shines a light on our pioneering healthcare tool, Steady On Your Feet, which has been developed to prevent falls and promote healthy ageing. Leveraging our insight and digital expertise, the intuitive online hub includes a comprehensive suite of resources to empower both older adults and healthcare providers with self-care support.

At the forefront of our wider innovation offer, the platform-as-a-service (PAAS) product has been designed in close partnership with clinical professionals and established strategies, ensuring clinical relevance and efficacy. This alignment not only strengthens and unifies falls prevention efforts, but also contributes to substantial healthcare savings. With an ageing population and falls resulting in around 76,000 hip fractures annually, it’s a significant issue that costs the NHS and social care over £2 billion every year. As well as improving strategies, Steady on Your Feet promotes active and healthy living, making a positive impact on the well-being of communities throughout the UK.

Alongside acknowledging our role in bringing cutting-edge products to life, the shortlisting coincides with Steady On Your Feet’s rapid growth, with national roll-out across six regions in just over 12 months. Key healthcare and local authority partners include South Tees NHS Trust; Cheshire Integrated Care Board; Devon Integrated Care Board; North Northamptonshire Council; West Northamptonshire Council; Swindon Borough Council; Cambridgeshire County Council; and Peterborough City Council. During this time, the tailored platform has also forged commercial relationships with prominent falls prevention and healthy ageing organisations, such as Move it or Lose it and We Are Undefeatable. These collaborations have bolstered a specialist content library to support active living among the elderly.

Mark Easby, Managing Director at Better, said: “We’re proud to be shortlisted at the Tees Tech Awards, which reflects our investment in technology and our vision to develop effective use of digital tools in falls prevention. With Better’s reputation for excellence and innovation, Steady On Your Feet is emerging as a leading force in the healthcare sector, delivering measurable results and tangible benefits to users across the UK.”

Adam Gatenby, Digital Director at Better, added: “Our Steady On Your Feet platform is committed to revolutionising falls prevention through developing personalised, self-care tools and providing easier online access to comprehensive information and resources. We’re excited to be recognised and look forward to the award ceremony next month.”

With new territories and product evolution in the pipeline, Steady On Your Feet continues to showcase our commitment to innovation, as well as our significant contribution to both the digital landscape and the health and wellbeing of older people.
