The Brief
Metropolitan Housing needed an aspirational brand, property naming and accompanying design language for a unique rural development.
It was important to reference the historical RAF site without ever overplaying any militaristic themes. As this development was well connected and pitched as an out of town alternative it needed to feel warm, comforting, natural and relaxed. Like the development, the tone should be fresh and modern with just a touch of tradition.
Brampton Park by Metropolitan is a residential development in the scenic Huntingdonshire village of Brampton. Nestled within the historic Cambridgeshire countryside, Brampton Park provides a modern rural lifestyle within beautifully relaxed woodland surroundings.
The village itself dates back to the Domesday Book, but in more recent times Brampton has been home to an RAF base as well as being used by United States Army Air Corps during the Second World War.
The Solution
Our design language for Brampton Park referenced the area’s aviation history, colour palettes were drawn from vintage RAF uniforms, leather flying jackets and life vests.
The identity is a fusion of a leaf and military insignia, while the typography choices elevated the design with a sense of sophistication and refinement. Buildings were named using the surnames of famous people through history that have served in the RAF.
We commissioned photography to evoke the sense of cosy village life that Brampton is surrounded by. Finally, we brought everything together in beautifully hand stitched brochures, featuring carefully selected stock that echoed the natural surroundings with wonderfully rich and tactile textures.

“Metropolitan appointed Better as lead agency as we were really impressed by their process, experience, passion and energy. Following their work on the place brand for our flagship development at Clapham Park, we are also looking forward to working with Mark and the team at Better to develop scheme led brands for a number of our other development projects across the South.“
