The Brief
The visual direction was a balancing act; it had to convey concepts of partnership and connection, buying multiple items in a bundle and a sense of fun. However, at the same time it needed to inspire trust and confidence in a completely new marketplace.
Yavolo is a unique proposition – an alternative marketplace that offers buyers a better deal by bundling relevant items together from multiple sellers. The platform brings buyers and sellers together to form a symbiotic and collaborative relationship that revolves around a one click, one bundle, one marketplace mantra.
The Solution
We combined playful language, a simple logo with double meanings of happiness and partnership, and a more refined approach to both palette and brand imagery. Alongside this, we also branded the reward system – YaCoins – resulting in a bold, fun but reassuring brand world.

Bundle of joy
The new logo works on three levels: a ubiquitous shopping basket; a basket that is also a smiley face; and, last but not least, two people shaking hands. It was important for us to convey both collaboration and joy here, because the notion of ‘together’ acted as our watchword throughout the design process. Sellers working together, items bundled together, all unlocking savings for buyers.

The world’s first bundle-powered marketplace
Yavolo offers exclusive deals within an inclusive community. The strapline – 'A good deal better' – reflects the platform’s role as a viable alternative to highly corporate, multinational monoliths. Not only is Yavolo an easier and more convenient way to shop, it’s also a fairer and more collaborative way to sell. The strapline’s double meaning effectively covers the key themes of buying, selling and product bundles, while also adding an overarching feeling of positivity.

Bundle vision
As a major buying influence, a lively image style was needed that connects different bundle items, helps describe categories and illustrates the playful act of putting many things in a basket with just one click. We defined a recognisable visual style, creating CGIs filled with energy that sees items dropping from space before funnelling into a smiling branded basket. As with the wider palette, colours are kept bright and welcoming, creating contrast between the cream background and warm red renders.

The currency of bundles
Alongside the master identity, Yavolo needed a sub-brand for its unique rewards scheme and onsite currency. Consideration also had to be made to any future sub-brands and the relationship they would have with both the currency and master brand. A flexible naming strategy was utilised which taps into the brand’s name, while resonating with buyers and sellers thanks to its fun and informal nature. Visually, we created a variation of the primary logo which helps maintain a strong relationship to the Yavolo brand, and can also be used as a standalone mark.
