The Brief

Metador needed to evolve. While their technical excellence and bold personality were well expressed, the brand hadn’t kept pace with growth or their bespoke offering. What was missing was a stronger articulation of their customer-first culture, and quiet innovation. Our brief was to build on the equity they already had — refining and expanding the brand to reflect Metador’s maturity, broaden its appeal, and elevate both perception and performance across every touchpoint.

Metador is a leading manufacturer of high-performance steel doors — expertly engineered for construction, healthcare, logistics, education and beyond. Since 2004, they’ve built a reputation for technical quality, reliable service, and custom-made solutions. As they celebrate their 20th anniversary and drive forward with plans to reach a £50 million turnover, the moment was right to reflect and review.

Visually, we introduced clarity and sophistication without losing strength or edge. The new system articulates Metador’s position with more polish, while giving them a scalable, future-ready toolkit. The result is a brand that looks as sharp as it thinks — still made of stronger stuff, but now built to do even more.

The Big Idea behind Metador’s brand is bold, impactful and true to the core: everything they create is Designed to Protect. Whether it’s a retail unit, a hospital corridor or a high-security facility, every doorset is built to safeguard people, spaces and systems — from fire, intrusion, noise or the elements.

This idea grounds the entire brand in purpose. It speaks to product and service, mindset and mission. And it gives Metador a unifying narrative that’s both functional and emotive: engineered security, tailored with care. It’s a commitment that shows up in every detail.

Constructing character

Metador’s brand personality is led by the Reformer, with strong support from the Creator and Mentor. Together, they form The Guiding Innovator — a character that balances rigour with creativity, logic with empathy. It reflects a business built on trust, tuned into clients, and constantly improving. This isn’t a brand that rests on its strength. It leads with principles, sharpens through innovation, and builds lasting relationships through knowledge and clarity.

Their new voice is built for momentum. The Purposeful Energiser is confident, clear, and straight to the point. This tone reflects Metador’s ability to tackle complex problems with precision and urgency. It doesn’t waste words. Instead, it delivers smart, structured, insightful messaging — designed to drive decisions and build trust. Whether it’s product features or brand storytelling, the voice carries confidence without arrogance, and clarity without compromise.

Shaped with strength

We gave the Metador logo a quiet confidence boost. The bold, geometric shield was subtly simplified and refined to emphasise security and solidity. Meanwhile the wordmark got a fresh cut: we introduced chisel-edged details and subtle inner corners that echo the logo’s form and elevate its precision. These crafted tweaks unify symbol and type, increase legibility, and create a more ownable visual signature. It’s a small change that says a lot: refined, engineered, and unmistakably Metador.

Built to work

Typography plays a pivotal role in the evolution too. We introduced Aeonik — a structurally sound, modernist-meets-mechanical typeface that bridges function and finesse. It’s readable, versatile, and brings clarity to every message — from technical specs to strategic storytelling. This is a tone-setter and clear signal of professionalism, progress and personality, showing that Metador understands its audiences and always delivers with purpose.

Levels of protection

To ensure consistency across every channel, we created a four-tiered application system: Intrigue, Focus, Showcase and Inform. Each tier maps to a stage of the customer journey, with its own layout rules, visual focus and brand expression. Whether it’s a striking homepage, a product brochure or a detailed technical sheet, every output feels recognisably Metador — smart, precise and well-crafted. It’s a practical system that flexes for real-world use while upholding design integrity.

Engineered for experience

We also rebuilt Metador’s website from the ground up — creating a digital platform that mirrors the quality and custom nature of their products. Powered by a tailored WordPress CMS, the site now offers better usability, SEO performance and content control. A cleaner structure and refined UX support multiple user types — from contractors to specifiers. It now serves as a clear window into Metador’s world, and a real sales tool.
